Non-Executive Director Positions

  • The Leprosy Mission Australia (TLMA)
  • Global Christian Not-for-Profit organisation
  • Be part of our next season of exciting growth and transformation

The Leprosy Mission is an International Christian organisation which helps people affected by Leprosy. Founded in 1874, The Leprosy Mission is the largest leprosy-focused organisation in the world today and is an international federation of 30 member countries that supports more than 200 projects in 21 implementing countries. Working together with supporters, staff and partners, the organisation works to diagnose, treat and provide a cure to those people affected by leprosy, and to also give hope and dignity so they can transform their lives.

TLMA is a public company limited by guarantee and a registered charity. Administered by the Chief Executive Officer and a committed and experienced executive team, the organisation is overseen by a Board of non-executive directors, all of whom are volunteers.  The Board of Directors ensure TLMA is effectively resourced and structured to achieve its vision, “Leprosy Defeated, Lives Transformed”.

To fill vacancies arising from recent and forthcoming retirements, we are seeking to fill two non-executive director positions for a minimum term of three years. TLMA is headquartered in Melbourne but invites expressions of interest from anywhere in Australia.  Directors are required to attend five Board meetings (in person and/or by technology) and participate in the meetings and activities of a Board sub-committee.

We are looking for leaders who are strongly aligned to the ethical behaviour and Christian ethos of the organisation, have a good understanding of finance, compliance, and cross-cultural ministry, and can embrace the work and mission of The Leprosy Mission. Previous governance experience in the corporate or not-for-profit sector will be highly regarded.

TLMA is particularly interested in candidates with skills and experience in one or more of the following areas:

  • Legal and risk.
  • Charitable fundraising, marketing and retail.
  • International community development.
