Youthworks is seeking a Maintenance Officer – Outdoor Specialist to join our team at Port Hacking, situated in the beautiful Royal National Park, just outside Sutherland. This full-time role will be contributing to our guests’ satisfaction and enhance Youthworks’ reputation, whilst undertaking maintenance responsibilities to ensure quality service from start to finish.

Youthworks Outdoors provide a place of temporary community for groups for relational and personal growth. We are intentional partners to schools, churches and like-minded community groups through networking, collaboration, and facilitation of Word ministry. We are providers of outstanding venues in amazing locations and Christian hospitality. We believe our interactions with our guests and each other are opportunities to promote and proclaim the gospel.

Your responsibilities

‍ ‍Grounds and Outdoor Maintenance

  • Responsible for the presentation, upkeep, and general maintenance of all outdoor areas across Youthworks Port Hacking under the direction of the Maintenance Coordinator
  • Operate and maintain outdoor equipment including ride-on mowers, push mowers, edgers, blowers, and other groundskeeping tools safely and effectively
  • Mow lawns, edge pathways, prune gardens, maintain hedges, undertake bush care, and complete general gardening duties across the site
  • Carry out regular weeding, leaf blowing, rubbish collection, and outdoor cleaning to ensure grounds remain safe, tidy, and well presented
  • Monitor outdoor areas for hazards, damage, or maintenance needs and report issues promptly
  • Assist with maintaining outdoor equipment, storage areas, and workshops in a clean, organised, and safe condition

Maintenance Support

  • Assist the maintenance team with general repairs, upkeep, and maintenance tasks across cabins, accommodation facilities, amenities, and common areas as required
  • Respond to maintenance requests and assist with minor repairs, painting, refurbishment work, and manual handling tasks
  • Ensure all tools and equipment are used safely and any faults or hazards are reported promptly
  • Maintain a professional and positive approach while interacting with guests, staff, contractors, volunteers, and visitors

People

  • Provide guidance and mentoring to casuals, volunteers and other staff assisting with out-door maintenance and grounds tasks
  • Encourage safe work practices, teamwork, and positive participation while working

Systems and Safety

  • Adhere to workplace health and safety procedures and safe manual handling practices at all times
  • Maintain relevant maintenance records and report hazards, incidents, and operational is-sues promptly
  • Support and recommend improvements to the maintenance coordinator

You will need to demonstrate

What we would really like you to have

  • Personal Christian faith
  • Experience working in landscaping, gardening, greenkeeping or bush care.
  • WorkSafe NSW Licenses
  • Qualifications related to horticulture or green keeping
  • Proven knowledge of Industry and Safety Standards
  • First aid qualifications

Additional information

Current drivers licence and own transport is essential as there is no public transport anywhere near Port Hacking Conference Centres.
