Head of Finance | Compassion’s Senior Finance Leader, Australia and Asia

Use your finance leadership to help release children from poverty in Jesus’ name.

Compassion Australia partners with local churches to provide children and families with practical care, education, health support and spiritual encouragement. Behind that work is a responsibility to steward supporters’ generosity with care. As Head of Finance, you will help Compassion meet that responsibility and build the financial foundations for its next chapter.

Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, you will lead an established team and serve as Compassion Australia’s most senior finance leader. You will bring clarity to financial performance, provide trusted advice to senior leaders and the Board Finance Committee, and oversee reporting, planning, audit, governance, payroll and procurement processes. Your remit also includes finance oversight of controlled entities in Asia.

This is a role for someone who enjoys both dependable delivery and thoughtful improvement. You will develop your team, make financial information useful to colleagues across the organisation, and help shape the move to Workday Finance.

What you’ll bring

• Substantial senior finance leadership experience and a record of developing capable teams.
• A commerce, finance or business degree and a CA, CPA or CIMA qualification.
• Strong experience in financial reporting, budgets, forecasts, external audit and financial controls.
• Sound judgement and the ability to explain complex financial matters clearly to leaders and boards.
• A practical approach to improving systems and processes while keeping essential operations running well.
• An ability to work in a way that reflects Compassion’s Christian mission and values.

Experience in the for-purpose sector, international group finance or an ERP implementation would be valuable, though for-purpose experience is not essential.
