About the role:

This role is crucial in ensuring that the CEO can effectively lead Tearfund and fulfill our mission.

It combines operational coordination, stakeholder management, communication and trusted executive support. It provides high level, confidential, administrative and operational support to ensure effectiveness, functionality and responsiveness by the CEO in making decisions regarding programs and activities.  The coordination of the CEO’s diary and communication between the CEO, staff team, members, stakeholders, funders, and the Board is a core part of the role.

The ideal candidate will bring a personal passion to see issues of poverty and justice addressed as well as exceptional organisational skills, and the confidence to work autonomously while building flourishing relationships. You will demonstrate sound judgement, discretion, professionalism, and confidentiality under limited direction.

Key Responsibilities

  • CEO support: Manage a complex and ever-changing diary and inbox, coordinate national and international travel and accommodation, draft correspondence and organise meetings. Track key deadlines and ensure the CEO is briefed and prepared. Assist with events and internal functions as required, process expenses and support ad hoc projects and initiatives

  • Governance Support: Coordinate the delivery of board papers, assist with meetings including administration and minute taking.  

Location

A mix of in office at Blackburn, Melbourne and work from home (with hybrid possibilities depending on business needs).

What you will need:

  • Strong personal commitment to Tearfund’s Christian mission, values, and ethos.

  • Exceptional organizational skills, ability to manage competing tasks with attention to detail and accuracy.

  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills (i.e., senior level reporting) and a relational style, demonstrated by an ability to build flourishing relationships with diverse stakeholders.

  • Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and discretion.

  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite and other relevant software.

Highly Regarded:

  • Experience in Board and CEO support and understanding of good governance practices.

  • Ability to work occasional weekends and evenings.

  • Relevant qualifications in business, administration, or similar fields.

  • Previous connection with Tearfund or similar sector work.
