Charlton Christian College is a K–12 co-educational Christian school located in Fassifern, Lake Macquarie. Educating more than 840 students and employing approximately 160 staff, the College is committed to developing each student’s God-given potential through a Christ-centred education of excellence.

We are seeking an experienced, strategic and people-focused Director of People and Culture to lead the College’s people and culture function. Reporting directly to the Principal and serving as a member of the Executive Team, this role provides leadership across workforce strategy, organisational development, staff wellbeing, employee relations and organisational culture.

Leading a small People and Culture team, the Director of People and Culture partners closely with the Principal, Executive Team and other leaders to strengthen workforce capability, support effective leadership, provide trusted advice on complex people matters and ensure that employment practices align with the College’s mission, values and strategic objectives.

About the Role

  • Lead the College’s People and Culture strategy and contribute as a member of the Executive Team.

  • Partner with the Principal and College leaders to strengthen workforce capability, organisational effectiveness and leadership practice.

  • Lead workforce planning, recruitment, organisational design and talent development initiatives.

  • Provide trusted advice and leadership across employee relations, workplace investigations and complex people matters.

  • Drive staff wellbeing, engagement and organisational culture initiatives that support the College’s Christian mission.

  • Lead the delivery of responsive and effective People and Culture services through a small professional team.


The Successful Applicant Will Have

  • A personal Christian faith, regular church attendance and willingness to support the College’s Statement of Faith.

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications and a current NSW Working with Children Check.

  • Significant experience leading a People and Culture or Human Resources function.

  • Demonstrated experience providing strategic workforce advice to senior leaders.

  • Strong knowledge of employment legislation, industrial relations and employee relations practice.

  • Demonstrated capability in the following competencies:

    • Planning and Organising

    • Adhering to Principles & Values

Working Arrangement

This is a full-time position with five weeks annual leave. Annual leave is typically taken during the Christmas school holiday period. The successful applicant will generally be required to work during all teaching weeks and designated professional development periods.
