CityLife Community Care (CLCC) is the community ministry expression of CityLife Church Knox. It exists to connect our church with our local community, to support and empower people in need.

For more than 25 years, CLCC has supported people in times of crisis, financial difficulty, isolation, and distress. Through our team members and staff, we offer holistic services and empowering pathways for people to move forward in their lives and thrive.

The primary role of the Counselling Team Leader is to manage CLCC’s counselling services, including related services such as therapeutic groups and workshops. Counselling Service (CS) is one of the core streams of the CLCC’s integrated community services. The role oversees a team of counsellors and psychologists to ensure services are delivered professionally and that best, safe practices are effectively implemented. This role also works closely with the Safe Ministries Manager to oversee safe CS practices, ensuring all ministry delivery, at-risk clients, and related areas are being managed according to relevant CityLife and CLCC’s policy and procedures.

 

Key Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • To develop and broaden CLCC’s counselling and related services through promotion, advertising, and networking.
  • To oversee the delivery of CLCC’s counselling service, ensuring the services, including the supporting services such as client in-take and assessment, are delivered in a timely, effective, safe, and professional manner.
  • To ensure members of the CS team are active members of a counselling professional body, maintain insurance coverage, and meet the expectations of counselling professional codes of conduct.
  • To recruit, supervise and support the members of the CS team, facilitating a positive, empowering, and collaborative culture, including, debrief and provision of feedback regarding CLCC and community clients.
  • To keep current the policies and procedures relevant to CS and the counselling services delivered are compliant with WHS, Risk Management and Duty of Care requirements.
  • With guidance from the Safe Ministries Manager, oversee and implement CLCC’s person at-risk policy and procedures for the CLCC counselling team.

 

The successful applicant will have:

  • Experience in leading and managing a team of professionals and to deliver counselling or other community service and achieve a goal/target.
  • Ability to develop and grow others, empowering people to thrive.
  • Experience or demonstrated ability in assessing and consulting situations involving at-risk persons, including family violence, suicide intervention, and child protection cases.
  • Demonstrated ability to organise, set and implement priorities, manage multiple tasks, and evaluate counselling practices, including review for auditing purposes.
  • Effective written and oral communication skills and administrative skills.
  • Demonstrated people skills and proven ability to work effectively with people from diverse backgrounds and all walks of life.
