As the Justice, Mental Health & Emergency Chaplaincy Manager, you’ll play a pivotal leadership role in advancing Anglicare’s Christian mission by leading teams of chaplains who provide spiritual care, pastoral support and hope to people in public institutions, mental health settings and emergency response environments.

Your opportunity
As our Justice, Mental Health & Emergency Chaplaincy Manager, you will provide strategic leadership, ministry oversight and operational management across Anglicare’s Justice, Mental Health and Emergency Chaplaincy services.

Leading a team of ordained and non-ordained chaplains, you’ll inspire and equip your team to provide compassionate, Christ-centred ministry while fostering strong partnerships with Anglican churches, government agencies and community organisations.

You’ll also play a key role in identifying opportunities to strengthen and expand Anglicare’s chaplaincy services, ensuring they continue to meet the changing needs of the communities we serve.

With integrity and resilience, you will:

• Provide strategic leadership across Justice, Mental Health and Emergency Chaplaincy services.
• Lead, coach and develop a multidisciplinary team of ordained and lay chaplains.
• Foster a culture of pastoral excellence, collaboration and continuous improvement.

• Identify opportunities to expand and strengthen Anglicare’s chaplaincy ministry.
• Develop and maintain strong partnerships with Anglican churches, government agencies and community stakeholders.
• Support the recruitment, supervision, wellbeing and professional development of chaplaincy staff.
• Provide sound financial management and stewardship of chaplaincy programs.
• Ensure services are delivered in alignment with Anglicare’s Christian mission, ministry philosophy and organisational values.
• Represent Anglicare across church, community and government forums.

What you’ll bring
You are an experienced Christian leader who is passionate about pastoral ministry, strategic leadership and supporting others to flourish in their calling.

You have the ability to inspire teams, build meaningful partnerships and confidently lead ministry in complex and diverse environments while remaining grounded in your faith.

You will also need:

• Ordained Minister of the Anglican Church of Australia, currently licensed within the Diocese of Sydney (preferred), or a lay minister eligible to be licensed or authorised by the Archbishop of Sydney.
• Formal theological qualifications.
• Demonstrated ministry experience within a parish, chaplaincy or related ministry setting.
• Proven leadership and people management experience.
• Excellent preaching, teaching and communication skills.
• Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship-building skills.
• Sound financial and operational management capability.
• Current NSW Driver Licence.
• A demonstrated commitment to Christian discipleship and active involvement in a local Anglican church.

Ideally, you will also have:

• Experience leading ministry within justice, healthcare, emergency services or community settings.
• Experience working collaboratively with government agencies and community partners.
• Experience leading organisational or ministry growth initiatives.
• Strong strategic planning and organisational development skills.
• Experience managing multidisciplinary teams across multiple locations.
