Position Description: Children’s Pastor

Status: Part Time (2 days per week / 0.4 FTE)   Commencement: 1 July 2025 (or earlier as agreed)

Summary: The Children’s Pastor is an important leadership role in fulfilling the church’s vision to make disciples. The Children’s Pastor leads our Children’s Ministry, overseeing a discipleship-oriented ministry that is aligned with our vision and values and incorporates Sunday morning and weekday programs.

Reporting: The Children’s Pastor reports to the Senior Minister. They are part of the Ministry Team and are responsible to lead the Children’s Ministry, including the teams and leaders in their ministry area. They participate in a wider range of teams and meetings as required.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Create a safe, engaging, and spiritually enriching environment for children aged from infancy to Year 6, supporting spiritual development for the youngest members of our church community.
  • Provide leadership and direction to the Children’s Ministry team(s), fostering a cohesive and enthusiastic ministry environment, and collaborating with leaders of other related programs including (at present) mainly music and Kids Hope.
  • Collaborate with the wider one2one Ministry Team to integrate the Children’s Ministry into the overall vision for discipleship in the church.
  • Organise and oversee engaging, discipleship-focused programs and events with the principal aim of ministering to children (and their families) from infancy to Year 6.
  • Recruit, equip and enthuse the ministry team to serve in various capacities within the Children’s Ministry.
  • Ensure that all legal, safety and care requirements are met through development and adoption of appropriate policies, procedures, communication and training for leaders and team members. (Key documents include CCVT policies, ‘Duty of Care for Responsible Leadership of Children and Youth’ and the ‘Child Safety Policy’).
  • Establish effective communication channels to help parents and carers to take a principal role in the discipleship of their own children.
  • In conjunction with the boarder pastoral staff, oversee the pastoral care needs at one2one of children (and their families) from infancy to Year 6. 

The Children’s Pastor should be (or be prepared to become) an Accredited Minister with Churches of Christ Victoria & Tasmania (CCVT). They will be required to hold a Working With Children Check and consent to conducting a National Police Check upon commencement in the role.

Additional Opportunities:

The Children’s Pastor may also be invited to be part of our preaching and teaching team (according to their gifting and as negotiated). They will be invited to participate in a variety of ways in weekly services, including having the opportunity to host services, lead prayer, lead communion, lead baptisms and dedications.

 

Remuneration:

Renumeration is according to the CCVT ‘Recommended Minimum Renumeration Package for Ministers’ guidelines, Level B (on a pro-rata basis).
