Job description 

Good Directions is a large registered NDIS Service Provider providing daily tasks/shared living, community access, authorised restrictive practices, complex health supports, specialist support coordination, SIL and SDA. We specialise in NDIS participants with very high support needs whose families are willing to serve as advocates.

Operating in NSW, South Australia, Victoria, WA, QLD, Tas & ACT and experiencing tremendous growth due to our innovative person centred model of service delivery providing supports to people with multiple complex disabilities.

The position entails:

Reporting to: Executive Director

Good Directions Chief Operating Officer is responsible to oversee the organisation’s operations, ensure effective service delivery, compliance and growth.

Key responsibilities include:

  1. Leadership and Strategic Direction

  • Vision and Strategy: Lead implementation of 2030 Strategic Plan, set the overall strategic direction of the organisation, ensure it aligns with the needs of people with disabilities and promotes empowerment through ownership.
  • Team Support: managing a team of Operational Managers based in Victoria, NSW and South Australia
  • Organisational Culture: Foster a culture that values build capacity, ownership of resources, and respect for ourselves and others.

  1. Operational Management

  • Program Development: Oversee the design, implementation, and evaluation of Good Directions Participant-Owned services offered to people with disabilities, ensure they are effective and responsive to changing needs.
  • KPI support: supporting high performing Operation Management teams to meet all Key Performance Indicators per strategic plan targets
  • Quality Assurance: Ensure that services exceed regulatory standards, comply with regulations, and continuously improve.
  • Resource Allocation: Manage the allocation of resources, include funding, staff, and facilities, to ensure optimal service delivery.

  1. Financial Oversight

  • Budget and Financial Management: Develop and manage the organisation’s finances to ensure financial stability.
  • Financial Reporting: Ensure transparency in financial report to the Executive Director and Advisory Board, other stakeholders, include funding bodies.

  1. Stakeholder Engagement

  • Advocacy and Representation: Represent the organisation and advocate for Good Directions model in support the rights and needs of people with disabilities.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Keep open lines of communication with staff, clients, families, and the broader community to understand needs and ensure satisfaction.

  1. Compliance and Risk Management

  • Regulatory Compliance: Lead operational compliance and ensure the organisation complies with local, state, and federal laws, including those specific to disability services, health & safety and employment.
  • Risk Management: Identify potential operational risks to the organisation, include financial, legal, and operational, and put strategies in place to mitigate them.

  1. Human Resource Management

  • Employee Wellbeing: Ensure a healthy work environment that supports the well-being of employees and encourages high performance.

  1. Innovation and Improvement

  • Continuous Improvement: Work with IT teams to implement best practices, new research, and emerging trends in disability services to integrate into the organisation’s practices.
  • Technology Integration: Explore new technologies or methods that can improve service delivery and enhance the lives of people with disabilities.

  1. Business Development

  • Lead, develop and coordinate implementation of business development goals.

  1. Executive Director and Advisory Board Relations

  • Report to the Executive Director: Meet Executive Director monthly with report on the organisation’s progress, challenges, and financial status.
  • Advisory Board: Prepare report for Advisory Board meetings and share details of the organisation’s progress, challenges, and financial position. Provide recommendations for future growth and changes in strategy. Advisory Board meets 4 times a year consisting of two evenings, one zoom, plus a Strategic Planning overnight.
  • Succession Development: develop mentoring succession plan.

Remuneration:

  • full time position
  • Remuneration: Base $258k + home & travel allowance $12k + super + performance bonus $25k (Yr2 $35k, Yr3 $50k)

 

To be considered for this position you must have:

  • Current references from people with disabilities or their families indicating how you have advocated/assisted them
  • 10+ years of senior executive management experience in an enterprise environment
  • relevant tertiary qualifications
  • Proven track record of taking ownership of management outcomes and driving results
  • Experience managing people, incl. geographically dispersed teams
  • Strong problem solving skills and ability to deal with ambiguity
  • Experience in leadership, strategic thinking, IT implementation, client management, business development, bookkeeping, small business planning, human resources, events, housing, budgeting, networking and innovation
  • Drivers licence
