Northside Conference Centre is looking for a well presented, team player with exceptional customer service skills to join our team as our Events Manager on a Full Time (6 month contract with plan to extend) basis at Crows Nest, Sydney, reporting to our Venues Manager.

The Role

This is a diverse role where no two days are the same. The Events Manager will be responsible for operational elements to ensure the successful delivery of our events calender. This includes working to event timelines, liaising with internal and external stakeholders and assisting with marketing & sales tasks where requested by Venues Manager. The range of events includes face to face and virtual conferences, exhibitions, awards and other meetings.

Key duties of this role include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Taking phone and web enquiries
  • Quotation and sales - respond to any enquiries within 2 hours.
  • Confirm event details with clients & suppliers prior to event
  • Scheduling/managing casual staff as needed
  • Client management
  • Managing the ongoing presales process for small to mid-range events
  • Assisting with pre-sales process on large events
  • Scoping event requirements
  • Recruit and manage a team of casual event staff
  • Ongoing communication and meeting client requests before event.
  • Current Police Check (National Police Certificate)
  • Current Working With Children (WWC) Check

Essential Skills and Qualifications

Our ideal candidate will have previous events coordination and operational experience. Will be well presented, highly organised, flexible and be known for your passionate ability to provide exceptional service at all times. The successful candidates will ideally have the following skills:

  • 5 years minimum of experience with event management/delivery
  • Ability to maintain friendly and focused customer service while busy and under pressure
  • Strong & hard working with ability to set up tables and chairs
  • Impeccable self-presentation, professionalism and ability to build rapport with our customers
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including intermediate computer literacy and proficient in all aspects of Microsoft Office
  • Respectful, can take instructions, lead a team and work well in a team
  • Passionate to go the extra mile for our customers
The hours may vary. Most events are Monday-Friday, with flexibility to deliver after-hours events and some Saturdays required. Time-in lieu arrangements exist to support the role.

Remuneration is based on skills and experience.

Northside Conference Centre is owned by Northside Community Church and this role requires the individual to understand, support and uphold the vision of Northside Community Church. It requires a focus and an understanding that excellent customer service is essential the delivery of all events.
