Restoring Hope Parkinson's Therapy is a Not-For-Profit registered charity based on the Sunshine Coast. Our mission is to work proactively to enhance the wellbeing of people with Parkinson's as an expression of our Christian faith and values.

We are a small speech pathology clinic that currently provides up to 24 patient sessions per week and 3 group therapy sessions. The receptionist will be our only front of house staff member. The successful applicant will become a familiar face for clients and be a point of reference for booking and billing inquiries. While therapy sessions are underway reception time is allocated to the variety of administrative aspects of the role.

Key duties will include:

  • Answer the telephone in a courteous and professional manner
  • Monitor email inboxes, and distribute or respond to emails as required
  • Respond to Senior Therapists' needs to ensure the Practice runs smoothly and that Senior Therapists' priorities are attended to efficiently.
  • Respond to enquiries by phone, email or message in a prompt and professional manner
  • Receive and convey messages in writing, verbally and electronically
  • Communicate with patients and their families in a considerate and patient manner
  • Process claims through HICAPS and Medipass, handle cash, EFTPOS and other payments and adhere to Practice billing policy

Essential Selection Criteria:

  • The ability to maintain a high level of professionalism and confidentiality
  • Strong computer literacy
  • Excellent communication skills, written and verbal
  • The ability to work independently, show initiative and work productively within a team environment
  • The ability to communicate with a diverse range of people
  • CPR training undertaken within the past three years or willingness to participate in training
  • A current criminal record screening
  • The ability to comply with Government Health mandates
  • Work rights in Australia or be eligible for such
  • All staff must read, understand, agree to, and abide by our values

Desirable Selection Criteria:

  • Previous experience in a medical reception or similar administrative position
  • Previous experience in the use of Halaxy
  • Working knowledge of Windows-based software systems (e.g. Word and Excel)
  • An understanding of the Medicare Benefits Schedule and Private Health Fund rebates
  • An understanding of medical terminology, medical and allied health professional organisations and relevant stakeholders

This is a casual role, starting at 6-9hrs/wk
