Hours: Part time/0.4 FTE (15 hours per week)

Role Summary:

To improve the understanding and support of the work of HFH Victoria by:

  • Raising the profile of the HFHV cause in the broader community
  • Ensuring regular and effective communication with HFHV’s community to supporters
  • Raising the profile of our ReStore social enterprise to attract more donors, volunteers and customers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Organisational Communication
    • Responsible for the implementation of the HFHV Communication Strategy
    • To lead the ongoing review and updates of the Strategy
    • Drive compliance with HFH digital branding guidelines.
  • Content Generation
    • Generate the written and image content that best tells the story of the work of HFHV.
    • Accessing and working with external resources to assist with the above.
    • Developing content to assist with the advocacy work of HFHV in the housing affordability crisis we are experiencing.
  • Non digital communications:
    • Work with external parties (corporate, media etc) to have articles about the work of HFHV told via mainstream media channels.
    • Provide guidance and assistance in the production of the HFHV annual report.
    • Contribute to the development and improvement of the various communications needs of HFHV.
  • Digital communications
    • Maintenance and improvement of HFHV Webpage in line with Organisational strategy and current needs
    • Work with Habitat for Humanity, Australia’s (HFHA) to contribute HFHV content to shared Habitat for Humanity Australia Facebook page.
    • Deliver regular EDMs to increase engagement of the key stakeholder groups supporting the work of HFHV including;
    • Corporate Partners/supporters
    • Donors - including Build Partners and Executive Director’s Circle
    • Volunteers
    • ReStore customers and donors
  • Events
    • Contribute to the organisation of major HFHV events including special Home building events, House handovers and fundraising events (both in person and on line)
    • Responsible for media content about these events to supporters and partners.
  • Liaison - external partnerships
    • Liaise with external consultants as required to implement key elements of the communications strategy.
    • Partner with key corporates partners to leverage their strong brand and social media presence to tell the HFHV story and grow the HFHV brand recognition
    • Cooperate with HFHA Communications initiatives

Key Competencies:

  • Tertiary qualification in Professional writing, journalism, communications, and media or similar (highly desirable).
  • Background and experience in contemporary Communications methods and platforms
  • Well-developed, proactive written and verbal communication skills and style appropriate to the medium in use.
  • Experience in the Not for Profit (NFP) sector is desirable as is support of HFHV values
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team and willing to take initiative.
