Harbourside Church is a young and vibrant local church that was birthed out of a desire to see more people encounter the Hope of Jesus - in the Mosman area and beyond. We are a Baptist church that was planted in 2018 and just celebrated our third birthday!

Since then, God in his goodness has given us encouraging growth - and to that end we are wanting to expand the ministry team.

We are looking to welcome an Assistant Pastor with particular focus on the ministry operational part of church life. You will find below a detailed role description, however the final one will depend on skills and experience. The successful candidate will work closely with the Lead Pastor in all areas of church life. We are looking for someone who is strong in executing the operational side of church life while also bringing a pastoral heart to the ministry.


There is some flexibility around hours depending on the successful candidate. The range is 24 to 40 hours (3 to 5 days) a week, across a number of calendar days. The spread of hours can be determined with the Lead Pastor, but current times required on site include Sundays (currently morning) and Tuesday mornings (Staff Meetings).

Role Description & Responsibilities

The successful candidate will have primary responsibility in overseeing the operational component of church life. This will largely involve leading the people and processes that prepare and equip God’s people for ministry at Harbourside Church. This includes, but is not limited to:

  • Oversee the administration and execution of Sunday services and working with the Lead Pastor to fulfil other requirements
  • People and volunteer management
  • Project manage events such as Christmas, Easter, community serve days, working bees and other events
  • Manage the welcoming and integration process for all members
  • Manage and work closely with the Office Manager
  • Strategic planning for all areas of ministry
  • Work with ministry team leaders in the development and administration of their teams
  • Overseeing Church communications
  • Create or facilitate content for marketing

Ministry Opportunities

Depending on skills and experience the role for the successful candidate could include:

  • Leadership development
  • Small group ministry
  • Evangelism and mission
  • Women's or men's ministry
  • Assist in creating content for preaching and teaching series
  • Occasional preaching


  • Attend weekly staff meeting
  • Involved in other church activities as needed



  • Be a committed and regular church member
  • Previous experience in church or ministry in a staff or leadership role


  • Partial completion or completion of relevant theological studies or a commitment to commence study in this area


  • 3-5 days a week. Income split between PAYG and tax free ministry expense account
