In a Nutshell:

Healthserve Australia is a Christian organisation which partners with overseas communities in resource-poor settings to meet the basic health needs of people who otherwise would have little or no healthcare.

HSA aims to help build a community's capacity for meeting its own health needs through partnership with community groups in projects.

Projects supported would involve:

  1. Rural community health clinics, special units in hospitals where patients have a lack of access to such facilities.
  2. Training of all kinds of health workers with an emphasis on community health.
  3. Post graduate training and professional development of health graduates through in-service courses, with scholarships available.
  4. The provision of multimedia resources for health education, and training of all kinds of health workers
  5. Community health development in dentistry
  6. Health education of schoolteachers, students and community leaders

The Role:

The Treasurer's position is voluntary, however basic necessary travel expenses and other incurred expenses would be reimbursed.

Healthserve has its daily operations, bookkeeping, and administration under the care of Jane L Noller and Co. accounting firm.

The Treasurer would not be required to do bookkeeping or daily micro-management of the accounts. The Treasurer's main duties would include:

  1. Preparation of quarterly reports and presenting these to the Board
  2. Electronic authorisation of payments (online)
  3. Overseeing the preparation of Accounts for Audit
  4. Providing a report and presentation of the financial position at the AGM
