Children’s Pastor – Brighton Beach Church

Background to Brighton Beach Church (BBC)

Brighton Beach Church is a vibrant Christian community meeting in the heart of Brighton – presently at the Brighton Town Hall. Since our inception in May 2020, we number about 80-100 worshippers on a Sunday morning. Our ministry focus is reaching the unreached in Brighton and the Bayside area of Melbourne.

Brighton Beach Church is an affiliate of the Churches of Christ Vic/Tas.

Overview of position

The Children’s Pastor will be responsible for delivering a program for primary school-age children on Sundays (core responsibility), presently running on a fortnightly basis. They will also be involved in envisioning other opportunities for ministry to children in the broader Bayside area.

The successful candidate will naturally engage with children and their families to welcome them to BBC and help them to engage with the community. This person will be passionate and energised by leading children to faith and discipling them.

The successful candidate enjoys the challenge of developing age-appropriate content and activities for children and families. They have a demonstrated track record of leading and coordinating a team of volunteers, who will help them to resource and deliver the program for in-person services. Ideally, they also envision ways that children and their families can extend this beyond the service.

Given the nature of BBC as a young church, this person will demonstrate a level of flexibility in work arrangements (including the ability to work remotely where appropriate) and work duties, which at times may include duties outside the majority children’s ministry role.

External Accreditation

The Children’s Pastor will be Churches of Christ Vic/Tas accredited, or happy to complete the CCVT accreditation process once appointed. (Note: they do not have to currently attend a CCVT church). They will adhere to the Shared Values - Churches of Christ Vic/Tas.

They will also hold (or apply for) a valid Working With Children Check (Vic) (or VIT registration) and are happy to undergo a National Criminal History Check (performed by BBC, via CrimCheck).

1-2 days per week (to be determined in consultation with the successful candidate), with a view to possible future expansion of the role.

Commencement date

As soon as possible.
