We are seeking a passionate, experienced and networked individual to ‘own the experience’ with our grant providers, donors and philanthropic partners and grow our revenue base.  The role reports directly to the CEO, and is central to our ability to grow impact and scale.  

We are looking for an individual who is aligned to our values of Community, Courage, Passion and Integrity and who is determined to assist those individuals and families in need.  Your experience and background may come from various areas: Business Development, Marketing, Communications or Sales etc.  

Seeking an individual who can bring energy, passion and creativity as well as help create new partnerships and relationships, while fostering our current network.

The Opportunity

The Grant Writer/Researcher/Fundraising Coordinator is a new volunteer role within the Silky Oaks Operations team and will be responsible for driving grant and fundraising activity at a local level to increase revenue and support for our community projects. The role will research and write grant projects and work closely with the CEO to deliver increased funding to facilitate the growth of projects to across our broad client base.

Our ideal applicant will be able to support our growth by helping us achieve our fundraising, communications and brand objectives by inspiring supporters, connecting them to our organisation and showing them the impact of their support.

  • Demonstrated experience in fundraising or event management
  • Evaluate the intended audience for the proposal
  • Analyse the specific purpose for the proposal and gather the relevant information
  • Choose the appropriate funding process
  • Demonstrated ability to write, edit and proofread prior to submission and ability to submit through the appropriate channels.
  • Knowledge of online fundraising strategies, community fundraising or corporate fundraising strategies
  • Proven stakeholder management skills and ability to build constructive and effective relationships with Grant providers
  • Ability to work independently, show initiative and self-direction, as well as working with a small dedicated leadership team.
  • Good time management skills and an effective communicator 
  • Will positively represent our organisation, communities, projects and the not for profit and social enterprise sectors
  • Passionate about changing lives through improving education, health and livelihoods
  • Experience working with Boards and Committees.
  • Flexible with hours, with an ability to work 6-8 hours per week if required.
  • Willingness to complete and register for a Queensland Working with Children’s Check (Blue Card).
