Regional Manager – Chaplaincy Services

Schools Ministry Group has been providing ongoing pastoral and practical support through chaplaincy, Christian education and wellbeing services to school communities in partnership with the combined Christian community and other organisations for over 25 years.

SMG is the employer of more than 300 Pastoral Care Workers in South Australia government schools and is an approved Chaplaincy Service provider of the South Australian Department for Education (DfE) through the National School Chaplaincy Program (NSCP).

A position has been become vacant for the role of a Regional Manager, either full time or part time in Adelaide or a regional location.

The purpose of the Regional Manager position is to support The Chief Executive Officer, General Manager Chaplaincy and the SMG Board to fulfil the organisation’s strategic objectives, liaising with key stakeholders and offering high level administrative and organisational assistance in a professional, confidential and timely manner.  

Key Responsibilities

  • To facilitate the appointment of Pastoral Care Workers, utilising the approved process for the establishment in Government schools in SA.
  • To consult and liaise closely with Ministers’ Associations/Inter-Church groups (Support Groups) and schools in order to facilitate the appointment of Pastoral Care Workers.
  • To facilitate support, training, encouragement, resourcing and pastoral care for Pastoral Care Workers.
  • To deliver in-service training events for Pastoral Care Workers in close liaison with other SMG staff.
  • To develop networks and support mechanisms to assist in the outworking of these tasks.
  • To promote the wider ministry of SMG at every opportunity

Personal Faith

Applicants must have:

  • A personal commitment to Christian faith and values. Applicants must be able to give adherence to the beliefs held in common by supporting churches, as stated in the Nicene Creed
  • An active and regular involvement in a Christian community


  • Tertiary qualification in Ministry, Business, Education or related field, or appropriate levels of experiences.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with a high level of accuracy, efficiency and confidentiality whilst managing competing priorities. 
  • Previous experience in a similar role would be an advantage.
  • Current South Australian driver’s licence.
