Chief of Media and Marketing

Vision Christian Media has a unique opportunity for a gifted and qualified person to join our Executive team to creatively lead and inspire our Media and Marketing teams in their mission to communicate the good news of God through broadcast, print and digital media.

  • Full time Executive-level position.
  • Brisbane location (Springwood).
  • Expressions of interest for recruitment planned for later in 2021.

The Opportunity

This role is an important part of a dynamic and dedicated Executive Team who carry the leadership mantel of this growing nationwide media ministry. The role answers directly to and works very closely with the CEO.

The role is directly responsible to deliver quality mission outcomes in the Media and Marketing Division which has three departments, each with a specialist Manager and teams of full and part time staff, volunteers and contractors.

Responsibility areas include;

·       Marketing;

·       Content Direction & Development;

·       Journalism;

·       Broadcast Scheduling;

·       Digital Products & Pathways;

·       Audio/Video/Graphic/ Physical Production;

·       Tours and Events;

·       Communications; and Public Relations.

The role is responsible to develop and execute strategies and operational plans covering each of these areas that align with and support the organisation’s mission, strategies and priorities, ensure appropriate resources are available for the tasks (working to budget, innovating as necessary) and managing resources for maximum efficiency and impact.

The role has responsibility for recruitment, direction, development and management of team members, encouraging teamwork, resolving conflict and developing succession plans for key functions.

This is a particularly important role due to being responsible for the public experience with and perception of our products, services and brand. It acts as gatekeeper of our mission to be a trusted, consistent and unifying voice in the Australian community to challenge, encourage and affirm people in the Christian faith.

Accordingly, there is also a strong Pastoral component to this position – something we consider to be equally important to the technical components required for the role. This includes Pastoral care and spiritual guidance of staff – leading, communicating and demonstrating the core values of Vision and statement of faith so as to ensure our team are authentic ambassadors of the Gospel of Jesus Christ and in alignment to and the promotion of Vision’s orthodox Christian beliefs.

Vision Christian Media is a not-profit organisation that has been dedicated to bringing the Good News of the Gospel to Australia since 1986.

Hundreds of thousands of people across the country now turn to us daily for encouragement, good company and support through broadcast radio, printed and digital publications, podcasts, apps and websites. We also operate a telephone prayer service and more – all of it to help people look to God daily.

Requirements for the role

The ideal applicant will have:

·    Appropriate sector qualification(s) and experience.

·    Proven ability and experience to lead by example and instil loyalty and mission dedication within the team.

·    Strong focus on responding to staffing and HR matters in a timeframe and appropriate manner under the direction of Leadership.

·    Possess strong analytical ability, big-picture thinking and leadership skills.

·    Proven ability and experience with sourcing and development of high quality broadcast, published and interactive content that engages audiences across multiple platforms.

·    Exposer to and experience in journalism with a focus on journalistic integrity and adherence to policies and guidelines.

·    Experience with broadcast scheduling, ensuring alignment to the organisational mission.

·    Ability to direct multiple digital pathways activities for website, mobile apps, social media, live steams, podcasts and more.

·    Experience in delivering of excellent media production outputs both through internal capacities and outsourcing.

·    Ability to co-ordinate public events and tours.

·    Possess strong ability to develop and execute strategies that deliver organisational communication to stakeholders.

·    Proven ability in public relations and communication that will enhance trustworthiness in the organisational brand.

·    Great cross organisational communication skill.

·    Ensure that reporting requirements are completed in a timely manner.

·    Willingness to align with organisational mission, goals and strategies.
