Twenty years ago, university president Dr. Roger Parrott purposely began to let go of all leaders' iron grip on planning as the foundation of focus and energy. It was a struggle – and took over a decade until, as a University, it was entirely driven by capturing opportunities rather than developing long-range plans. This shift opened up growth, reach, and ministry that would never have been imaginable if they had stayed welded to conventional planning. And as a bonus, as president, it has brought Roger personal joy and freedom in leadership that he never imagined was possible. Roger's experience and the principles that now drive his leadership of a Christian university are captured in the book 'Opportunity Leadership'.
During this special webinar presentation, Roger will share his journey and outline the key biblical principles of Opportunity Leadership. To make the most of this unique opportunity to have Roger with us, we have decided to run a longer-than-usual webinar. The main session will run for about 50 minutes, and then there will be 20-30 minutes of questions and answers. A recording will be made available to all registrants, so even if you can't attend live, you can register so that you receive the recordings later, but we strongly encourage you to attend the live event so that you can participate in the Q&A session.
Note from Gary Williams, CMA National Director: I was privileged to be in a day-long CEO forum that was led by Roger at the CLA Conference in Chicago earlier this year. Roger's input throughout the day was biblical, practical and inspiring, so I'm especially grateful to be able to host this presentation for CMA members and guests. May I encourage you to set aside just a little time to attend this webinar, and have your thinking stimulated about what it takes to be ready to seize the opportunities that God sends us in the course of our lives and leadership.

Endorsement: This is an incredibly important concept that flies in the face of almost everything you’ve been taught about the importance of strategic planning. Roger Parrott wants you to forget for a moment all of the tedious and all-consuming planning that leadership gurus want you to do, and cut yourself loose to see and embrace the opportunities right in front of you. It has been said that sometimes “we can’t see the forest for the trees”—but it is also true that sometimes we can’t see the most important “trees” because we are obsessed by the forest. As the CEO of multiple organizations over my career, I can tell you that virtually all of my “breakthrough moments” had little to do with strategic planning and everything to do with looking, listening, and being available to the opportunities God had placed right in front of me. Do yourself a favor and learn to understand Opportunity Leadership.
