Pastor  –  Newcastle Baptist Tabernacle – Job Description

The Newcastle Baptist Tabernacle is seeking a Pastor following the departure of Pastor Vince Wall who has been called to an Itinerant Ministry.

LOCATION: The Tabernacle is a beautiful historic building aged 134 years and sits above iconic Civic Park, the green heart of the inner City of Newcastle. The Tabernacle has been patterned on Charles Spurgeon’s Tabernacle in London. Since 1890 the Newcastle Tabernacle has had a rich history of proclaiming the Good News of the Gospel.

Newcastle is the second-most populated district in NSW, famous for its subtropical climate; beautiful surfing beaches; excellent primary and secondary schools. The University of Newcastle has its main campus at Callaghan as well as premises with close proximity to the Tabernacle within the Newcastle City Centre.

CHURCH PROFILE: The Tabernacle has a congregation of approximately 80 friendly, united people attending morning and evening services. Our activities are generally geared towards the seniors age group, but we are anxious to develop youth and children’s ministries. The Tabernacle can broadly be described as a conservative, evangelical, missions focused church with a strong desire to be used of God to win people to Christ in Newcastle.

POSITION: Expressions of Interest in the role of Pastor are invited; preferably with experience in a Baptist Church or similar as a Pastor. SALARY: Remuneration will be in accordance with the recommendations of the NSW/ACT Baptist Association.
