Description

Christians have always had an ambiguous relationship with power. Jesus’ disciples jockeyed for position while he was alive. Later, the Apostles had to put in place new governance mechanisms to ensure widows were cared for fairly. Recent scandals involving high-profile Christians typically expose failures in governance and a lack of transparent checks and balances on those in authority. Several Royal Commissions reveal the same. This presentation explores workable approaches to governing in a Christ-like manner whilst navigating the 21st century’s many complexities.

Philip Pogson FAICD originally trained as a classical musician in Australia and Europe before taking up a career in management then consulting. He has been a company director, Managing Director and board Chair for 25 years. He is a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and holds a Graduate Diploma in Applied Corporate Governance from the Governance Institute. As Managing Director of The Leading Partnership, a strategy and governance advisory firm, Philip has advised boards and executive teams across a range of industry sectors including several large Catholic and Protestant entities. He is Chair of Northcross Christian School and Open Doors Australia and New Zealand, and a founding Director of Richard Gill School. He and his wife attend Ryde Baptist Church, Sydney.
