Of the 111 governance standards in CMA's Essential Standards booklet, the standard on Succession is the one that has consistently scored the weakest by those undertaking our self-evaluation survey. Yet few would argue that the topic of Succession is incredibly important for us to get right if our organisations are to continue to thrive. So let's talk about Succession.
This online meeting is an opportunity to have a facilitated discussion. Of the different kinds of Succession that take place, we will be focusing on CEO Succession on this occasion. Drawing on the expertise in the room, this 'Mics on, Cameras on' format will allow for an interactive dialogue where we can identify some key questions, discuss some basic principles, and discover resources that may be helpful.
CMA will shortly be conducting a small research project on the topic of Succession, with a new booklet to be created as a result, and this 'Let's Talk Succession' meeting will help us all think a bit more about the topic in preparation for the next steps. We will be sending all registrants a set of six simple questions upon registration, asking you to provide brief responses before the meeting to assist us in planning the discussion. There is no expert presenter at the meeting, rather this is a structured but less formal opportunity to talk about the topic, learn from each other, and identify opportunities for further exploration. |
