The prophetic voice has been heard in Australia. But too rarely has it been heard loud and clear. Why should that be so? Has it been jugulated - its throat slit - by external factors, such as bullying secularism? Or closer to home, has it been muzzled by fellow Christians who tell us that the prophetic gift is not to be highly prized? Or, is it weakened by my own embarrassment to express and to practise the gift? How is the prophetic voice to be nurtured and strengthened, and, once it is rejuvenated, what might it say? This talk seeks to address those questions drawing on over two centuries of Christian experience in Australia.
