A short introductory presentation will explain the role of the Board in a Christian ministry context, and what the legal responsibilities and liabilities of Board members are.  Then, a panel with extensive experience serving on Boards across a range of faith-based organisations will answer your questions on a range of Board issues including:

  • Board recruitment
  • Board rotation
  • Board review and improving effectiveness
  • Succession planning
  • Relationship between CEO/Board
  • Getting staff feedback on CEO performance
  • Role of the Board - strategic and legal responsibilities

The session will be facilitated by Elizabeth Shalders, from Lewis Holdway Lawyers, and the panelists will include Natalie Fielding and Paul Holdway from Lewis Holdway Lawyers, Jeff Tulk from Saward Dawson Chartered Accountants, and Stuart Brown, Chair of Entrust Foundation.

Note: There are two training modules offered on 7th November- this one at 2.00pm, followed by afternoon tea at 3.00pm, followed at 3.30 by a session with Adam Foster on Personal Liability of Directors. You may come to just one session by booking in to the relevant session. If you choose to attend both sessions, a discounted, combined price of $60 (CMA Subscribers) or $85 (full price) applies. To book in for both sessions, simply register as normal for either one of the sessions, and in the 'Adjacent Events' section of the registration form, select the 'Register for Both Sessions' option. Afternoon tea is included, whichever session(s) you are attending.
