Flinders Christian Community College is inviting applications from the community to join the FCCC Board of Governance. We are looking to increase the representation on the current Board and hope to enlist applications from suitable members of the public who are able to subscribe to the Christian world view as identified in the College’s Mission and Vision.

We are currently seeking to include on the Board a person/s that:

  • Subscribe to the College’s Mission and Vision – expected of all applicants
  • Love the Lord (have a Christian faith) – expected of all applicants

Possess one or more of the following:

  • Educational Sector experience
  • Financial sector expertise
  • Large organization experience
  • Human Resources experience
  • Leadership experience.

About our Board of Governance
Our Constitution allows for a Board of 6-10 members and meets 9 times per year. The Board of Governance is an honorary position and does not attract remuneration

Board Member Job Description
Specific job outputs of the board as an informed agent of the Incorporated Association are those that ensure appropriate organisational performance.

  1. Seek Godly wisdom for the school and its mission for the community
  2. Be the authoritative linkage between the Incorporated Association and the operations of the College
  3. The Board comprises a minimum of six members and an ex officio member
  4. Each Board position is honorary
  5. On appointment, Board members serve a minimum of two years
  6. Establish governance policies that realistically address the broadest levels of all organisational decisions and situations
    1. Ends: The organisational impacts, benefits, outcomes, recipients, beneficiaries and impacted groups
    2. Executive Limitations: Conditions on executive authority that establish the prudent and ethical boundaries within which all executive activity and decisions must take place and be reviewed
    3. Governance Process: Specification of how the board conceives, carries out, and monitors its own tasks
    4. Board-Management Relationships: How authority is delegated and its proper use monitored; the CEO’s role, authority, and accountability
  7. Assurance of successful organisational performance on Ends and Executive Limitations.
  8. Maintain an active interest in matters impacting on Christian schooling, especially as they affect the ability of the School to fulfil its vision, mission and goals
  9. Act, at all times, in accordance with Australian law, and the Rules of FCCC Incorporated Association
  10. Understand the implications of Government Funding criteria on school rules and regulations. Government funding represents a significant component of overall school revenue. Understanding and meeting funding agreement criteria are important risk Governance issues for Board members
  11. Enable the CEO/EP to be the operational executive of the School, being regarded (for the purposes of corporate governance) as the only employee of the Board of Governance
  12. Approve and monitor the budget prepared by the CEO/EP in accordance with these policies
  13. Establish Board of Governance Sub-Committees to ensure effective planning and assist in providing advice to the Board of Governance and CEO/EP
  14. Ensure the highest standards of ethical behaviour and corporate accountability
  15. Provide leadership in the community of the School and the wider community
  16. Promote and support the work of the School among parents and the wider community
  17. Act as a sounding board for matters, normally for Governance decisions, on which the CEO/EP seeks the advice and wisdom of Board of Governance members
  18. Actively manage all other matters for which the Board of Governance is responsible under the Rules of FCCC Incorporated Association.

  • A Curriculum Vitae, listing your personal details, association memberships, qualifications (with certified copies of degrees), relevant experience and other material in support of your application
  • A Professional Statement addressing your capacity to meet one or more of the experience criteria
  • Your qualifications, personal attributes and background which have prepared you for this role
  • A statement of your Christian faith and lifestyle, including your church attendance, and how your faith determines or informs your personal philosophy of life. Please also include a response to the College’s Mission and Vision statement
  • Contact details for two referees, including your current minister, and one other professional referee
  • Entirely at your own discretion, and not required for consideration for inclusion in a short list, applicants may choose to indicate details of their marital status, family details, date of birth, citizenship, and enclose a recent photograph. This information, as for all information relating to applications, will be treated in accordance with the provisions of the Privacy Act
  • Submission of an application will be taken as the applicant’s frank admission that they are eligible to take on the responsibilities as outlined in the various documents relating to this position
  • Following the creation of a short list of applicants, interviews will be held and referees consulted
  • It is anticipated that our new Board members will take up the positions from 1st January 2018
