The Position Purpose
This role is for an experienced Mid-Weight Designer in the Communication Design field, who will take responsibility for the day-to-day operations of graphic design. The role will involve some oversight of creative practitioners including volunteer and intern graphic designer. The role calls for a skilled Mid-Weight Designer with an understanding of the communication needs of a large church organisation. It is a busy role for a mature person to be pro-active and highly engage in seeing through multiple projects simultaneously being carried out from initial conception, design execution to finished outcome. The person is expected to thrive under pressure, within constant deadlines and deliver outcomes with effective, efficient and excellent manner.

The Key Responsibilities

  • Vision Development
    • Proactive and creative delivery of high quality product on a consistent basis ensuring the communication needs of the church are met.
  • Role Model and Management
    • Internal communication liaison with and receiving briefs from various department of Bridge Church and the Communications Coordinator.
    • Solutions from design concepts, development, and completion.
    • Designing of campaign branding, print collateral, environmental graphics (i.e. signage, window display, room decorative prints), merchandises, books and magazines, corporate identity, presentation slides and multimedia interfaces, from concept to completion.
  • Working together with other communication and creative staff (including volunteers/interns) who are doing photography, illustration, animation, event/stage designer, social media as well as vendors such as printer/supplier and anyone else who is involved in the development of a project
  • Liaising with printers and suppliers to ensure timeliness and budget expectations are met
    • Build a strong strategy of working relationship among design staff & volunteers and maintain on-going team spirit & cooperation
    • Maintain an organised and effective filing system in storing and managing files database (computer & online server)
    • Manage and create content for social media and website while working with Bridge Church’s social media team.
  • Training & Development
    • Train and develop a team of designers
    • Directs the work of intern/volunteers who generate comms and create layouts and final art.

Required Experience

  • Competent in latest version of: Adobe Creative Cloud: Illustrator, Photoshop and InDesign. Understanding of any other Creative Suit software will be a bonus
  • Skills in: Photography, Illustration, Typography and Layout
  • Experience in development and implementation of design techniques, critical thinking, keen eye for aesthetics & design
  • Demonstrated ability to relate and work well in a team environment
  • Demonstrated maturity to accept critics well and be flexible to receive input from the team and directions from the leader(s) and change creative directions when required
  • Demonstrate pro-activeness to self-develop by regularly updating yourself with what’s on the design industry (latest technology, trends and more). Some part of it will require pro-activeness in proposing a self-development plan to the one-up leader through online courses, conferences, seminars, etc
  • Demonstrate critical thinking to come up with relevant and cutting-edge ideas. (i.e. through blogs, forums, exhibitions, conferences).
  • Demonstrate self-sustainability to upgrade your design skill with the new tricks and tips, new available technology (hardware and software) to help you with your design idea executions in the best possible way
  • A good understanding of Communication Design (Graphics and Multimedia production)
  • Ability to multitask in a fun but professional environment and deliver consistently on time
  • Good communication skills
  • Ability to create, develop and manage design intern/volunteers

 Personal Attributes

  • Godly character
  • Degree in Graphic Design or similar qualification
  • Minimum of two years’ experience in a similar role
