Systems Accountant

Do you have experience in the financial field? Are you looking for an opportunity to merge your professional skills with your heart for missions? SIM Australia is looking for a Systems Accountant with a heart for God.

The role of Systems Accountant primarily involves developing system improvements to assist the finance team and the wider organisation whilst maintaining good communication with our members on finance matters. The role is part-time position envisaged at 3 days and is based from the SIM Australia’s Sydney office. The team is encouraged to have direct contact when possible.

Essential knowledge, skills and competencies

The successful candidate will have:

• A Christian faith - A heart to follow Jesus and participate in a church community
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment (and autonomously as required)
• Ability to develop systems and guide people through the integration process
• Ability to see the bigger picture, and provide solutions within an agreed framework
• Problem solving and logical thinking ability
• Strong experience in finance and finance functions
• Query or similar system report writing. (current system is International Fund Accounting)
• Intermediate Microsoft Office skills
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Good organisation skills and attention to detail
• Ability to multitask, exercise flexibility and be capable of learning on the job. In-house training for the role.

• Experience in a similar role in the industry
• A desire to improve and learn new things
• Ability to accept direction, retain knowledge/training
• A positive attitude towards work and helping others

The role covers a range of activities as part of a Christ-centred, devoted and enthusiastic organisation, within a pleasant and supportive team environment.

Initial employment will be through a 1 year employee agreement. It is highly probable that a permanent position may be offered to the right candidate.
