POSITION DESCRIPTION
Position Name: Head of International Programs

Location: ACCI Operations Centre, 5/2 Sarton
Rd, Clayton VIC 3168
Reports To: General Manager
ACC INTERNATIONAL RELIEF (ACCIR):
ACC International Relief is the aid and development arm of
the Australian Christian Churches movement. ACCIR is a member of ACFID (the
Australian Council for International Development) and a signatory to the ACFID
code of conduct, which provides standards on management, public communication
and disbursement of funds.
Our vision is for a world where Christian principles of
justice and equality are actualised. Where individuals, families and
communities are empowered to influence decisions affecting their own lives,
advocate for their own rights as human beings with equal voice and equal value
under the premise that all life has intrinsic value before God who created
life. Where every child’s right to a family is upheld and defended.
We achieve our vision through community development and
child rights projects implemented by ACCIR’s small team of project officers and
through strategic partners and field workers.

KINNECTED PROGRAM:
ACCIR is committed to protecting each child’s right to be
nurtured and raised in a family. To this end, we developed our Kinnected
program, which seeks to take a proactive approach to scaling down the overuse
of residential care around the world (inclusive of orphanages, children’s
homes, children’s villages and shelters). ACCIR works alongside organisations
involved in residential care to help them deinstitutionalise and reintegrate
the children within their care to their families or family-based alternative
care. Kinnected also seeks to prevent family separation through the development
of family strengthening and preservation programs and by advocating and raising
awareness for this issue such as orphanage trafficking.
The Kinnected program is now a core aspect and focus of
ACCIR’s work. The management of the Kinnected program will form a significant
component of this role.
