About the opportunity

This is a newly created role with focus on both operational business and ministry needs, along with growing the awareness of MTCC events, accommodation and activities.

The Operations Manager/Church and Community Engagement Officer will take charge of MTCC site operations and enhance relationships between MTCC and churches and with para-church organisations and theological colleges. You will be responsible to the Chief Executive Officer.

The first aspect of the role will involve responsibility for the adequacy of all Convention property infrastructure together with client liaison prior to and during use of MTC facilities and events. The second aspect will focus on increasing the Christian community’s awareness of MTCC ministries and Mt Tamborine Convention Centre resources. Operations management involves property oversight, managing and directing staff and volunteers in the maintenance, upgrade and development of MTC properties and facilities.

The task of enhancing relationships between MTC and the wider Christian community would comprise one to one meetings with pastors, Christian leaders and leaders within theological colleges and phone contact with an established network of MTCC church representatives who promote MTCC in their local church. The role will also include representing and promoting MTCC at local and interstate Christian Conferences.

Sound theological understanding, excellent communications skills, property and infrastructure maintenance experience and a desire to meet with people and support and encourage them in their ministry is required.

About you

To be successful in this role:

  • Must be a committed evangelical Christian and an active, contributing member of a Bible-based church
  • Theologically and denominationally astute
  • Committed personally and professionally to the authority of the Scriptures
  • Able to commit to the mission, vision and core values of Mount Tamborine Convention
  • Be self-directed, highly motivated and reliable and able to commit to MTC’s Code of Conduct and professional standards
  • Possess a current Blue Card and National Police Certificate – or the ability to acquire. And also, possess a car and driver’s licence.
  • Theological training, experience in Christian leadership and experience managing a diverse site would be well regarded


  • Demonstrated experience of working in teams to support business plans and meet objectives and financial targets.
  • Public speaking experience
  • Excellent oral and writing communication skills
  • Proven experience in relationship building and communicating, particularly one on one
  • Possess the ability to relate interdenominationally.
