Board and Director Opportunities

Habitat for Humanity Australia (Victoria) Inc (HFHV) is an incorporated Association and a Not-For-Profit organisation that partners with low income families living in housing stress to help them to own an affordable home. HFHV also undertakes other projects to help repair and improve housing for those who are vulnerable, disadvantaged and in need in our community.

Established in 1988, HFHV built its first home at Crib Point in 1995. We have helped 65 Victorian families into home ownership today with the generous support of our community of supporters; including donors, corporate partners, students and community groups.

As part of our planning for the future, HFHV is seeking interest from experienced directors to join our Board. Prospective Directors will have:

  • a strong interest in helping to address the significant challenge of increasing access to affordable housing across our community
  • demonstrated experience in relevant disciplines
  • alignment with our Christian values and purpose.

We are seeking skills, experience and attributes in one or more the following areas:

  • Housing industry
  • Project management and/or construction
  • Marketing and promotion
  • Fundraising
  • Legal or accounting
  • Digital communications and/or website development
  • Retail or merchandising to help grow ReStore, our social enterprise

As we look to the future, we have identified the need to review and improve:

  • Our housing and finance model
  • How we build a stronger and more financially sustainable organisation
  • Our brand recognition – Habitat for Humanity is a very strong global brand with low local presence and recognition
  • Our strategies to increasing the impact of our programs
  • Our risk management policies and procedures.

Role:

This is a voluntary position with expenses being reimbursed.

Directors are expected to:

  • attend between 8 and 10 Board meetings each year, including a Planning Day
  • attend key fundraising events, when possible
  • be involved in relevant Board sub-committees.

Our Office is based in Kilsyth South. Our Board meetings usually take place in the city between 4.00pm and 6.00pm. They are being conducted online during the COVID 19 period.

Enquiries should be made to our Executive Director – Philip Curtis:
