About Zambia’s Child

Zambia’s Child (ZC) is a non-denominational Christian organisation based in St Ives, NSW. The mission of ZC is to help alleviate poverty in Zambia, primarily through quality, Christian education.  ZC has sponsorship programs for around 240 primary school students in Chingola, a large town in the Copperbelt Province, and 26 secondary school students in Kitwe, about an hour’s drive south of Chingola.  ZC currently has 8 sponsored tertiary students and 16 staff, including a principal, teachers, a social worker, and agriculturalist and other support staff.

In 2013 ZC acquired 2.5 hectares of land to build the Ipalo Christian Community School on the outskirts of Chingola. The first stage of construction was completed in September 2015 with our 90 students commencing Term 3 in the purpose-built school. Stage 2 construction was completed in early 2018. Stages 3 & 4 were completed in 2019.

All fundraising and administrative activities are coordinated from the St Ives office.  All work done in Australia for ZC is conducted by volunteers in order that the funds raised can be devoted to the children’s programs in Zambia.
