Senior HR Partner

Organisational Overview and Mission

Helping young people and school communities discover purpose, value and hope.

School’s Ministry Group (SMG) offers ongoing pastoral and practical support through chaplaincy, Christian education and Wellbeing services to school communities in partnership with the combined Christian community and other organisations. SMG is the employer of more than 300 Pastoral Care Workers in SA Government schools and is an approved Chaplaincy Service provider of the South Australian Department for Education through the National School Chaplaincy Program (NSCP).

SMG is seeking a Senior HR Partner to join the team.

Role Overview

The Senior HR Partner will support SMG’s Human Resources objectives and effectively build the HR capability of the organisation as well as contribute to broader organisational and strategic development.
If you have solid HR generalist experience in a Senior Advisor, Partner or HR Manager level role, and you’re familiar with the challenges and opportunities that can arise working with an extended workforce, then this role could be for you. With the ability to prevent problems from arising, navigate the HR landscape, and the skills to coach and support your stakeholders, this role will be both challenging and satisfying. You will have qualifications in HR and a desire to make a real difference.

Skills, Knowledge and Experience

  • Generalist HR knowledge with exposure to a wide range of HR functions, including recruitment, people development, remuneration and employee relations
  • Applied knowledge of Australian employment law and related regulatory and statutory requirements
  • Understanding of broad-ranging people related issues
  • Highly developed communication, time management, decision making, problem-solving and conflict resolution skills.
  • Understanding of relevant HR information systems.

Possessing tertiary qualifications in Human Resources Management (or a related field), the successful candidate will exhibit a personal style that demonstrates, as well as models, strong rapport building and relationship building abilities. Previous experience working for a not for profit organisation will be highly regarded.
In addition to relevant experience, applicants must have strong alignment with the vision and mission of SMG, the ability to work with and respect people with different beliefs and values and hold (or be able to obtain) all relevant working with children approvals.
