Carmichael Kids Early Learning Centre is a faith-based Christian not-for-profit Child Care Centre in Morayfield. We are licenced to educate up to 248 children daily in our purpose-built, state-of-the-art Child Care Centre and Kindergarten. 

We offer long day care and a Christian values inspired Long Day Care program that provides children with numerous opportunities to learn through varied experiences and activities to equip them with essential skills to prepare them for school and beyond. 

Accountable to the Centre Director, the Assistant Director will be highly motivated to lead and inspire the dedicated childcare team along with maintaining ongoing communication with parents. A community-oriented mindset and a high level of professionalism with a minimum of 3 years’ experience as an Assistant Director.


Position requirements:

The successful applicant will have strong leadership skills, attention to detail and be able to meet the following criteria:

  • Bachelor of Teaching/Education (Early Childhood Education); Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care; Diploma/ Advanced Diploma of Children’s Services; or other relevant qualifications and extensive experience in an early childhood setting.
  • Comprehensive working knowledge of the Early Years Learning Framework, Queensland Kindergarten Curriculum Guidelines, National Quality Framework and The Education and Care Services National Regulation.
  • Experience in the Assessment and Rating process.
  • Sound knowledge of the Childcare Subsidy Scheme.
  • High level of computer literacy, including working knowledge of QikKids software.
  • Knowledge of Child Safety Standards and Child Protection and Mandatory Reporting legislation.
  • Demonstrated experience in operational, financial and staff management.
  • High level of written and verbal communication skills including proven ability to prepare reports and communicate effectively with diverse groups.
  • Demonstrated results orientation, sound judgement and problem-solving ability.
  • Current First Aid, CPR, Anaphylaxis and Asthma Management Certificates.
  • Current Open Queensland Drivers Licence.
  • Willingness and available to work flexible hours as determined by Centre requirements.
  • Currently possess, or be willing to obtain, a Police Check Certificate and positive notice Blue Card in accordance with the Working with Children (Risk Management and Screening) Act 2000 prior to commencement.
  • Be able to direct and train staff in areas of best practice.
  • Being an inspiring leader and mentor to your team of educators.

Responsibilities will include (but not limited to*):

  • Manage the day-to-day operations of the Centre in line with legislative requirements, company policies and procedures.
  • Must be willing and able to fulfil Educator duties as required.
  • Effectively manage financial requirements of the Centre in line with budget guidelines.
  • New Parent Tours / Orientations / Liaison with families.
  • Guiding Educators to best practice (overseeing and supporting the Educational Leader's role across the service).
  • Ensuring an inclusive, supportive and educational environment for all children.
  • Oversee expectation of Centre presentation, indoor/outdoor play spaces.
  • Manage the performance of all staff.
  • Recruitment and induction of new staff.
  • Managing staff rosters and occupancy numbers.
  • Managing ACECQA notifications.
  • Maintaining Quality Innovation Performance.
  • Building community relationships/links.

*Some responsibilities will be in conjunction with the Centre Director.
