Expression of Interest for Director – Focus on the Family Australia Board


For 25 years, Focus on the Family Australia (FOFA) has been helping Australia's families and communities through radio broadcasts, preventative education programs, seminars, counselling and a wide range of resources for families. Focus on the Family Australia is a not-for-profit organisation that offers relevant, practical support to help families thrive in every stage of life. Our aim is to "To help strengthen Australian Families" regardless of their religion, politics, socioeconomic status, culture or age.

The FOFA board currently is looking to appoint new directors.  We are committed to balance and diversity in perspectives so we welcome applications from a wide variety of individuals.  FOFA has a national presence and so we also welcome applicants from any state of Australia.


Essential Skills and Attributes

·       As the organisation has a CEO and staff, your role as director will primarily be governance, providing accountability to operations.

·       Directors are required to have the following skills and attributes:

·       A commitment to Focus on the Family’s Christian ethos, mission, vision, values and frameworks

·       A commitment to a belief in the sanctity of marriage, and belief in family

·       Meet the ACNC requirements of a Company Director

·       Willingness to undertake training and development for inexperienced directors

·       Ability to attend board meetings quarterly in Melbourne Eastern suburbs or via Skype/Zoom for interstate directors, an annual board strategy day in person and possible periodic attendance on a special purpose committee.


As a not-for-profit organisation, FOFA does not remunerate Board Directors for their position.  Any travel and other expenses may be covered.
