Campus
Missionary working with International Students
Power
to Change is a faith-based mission organisation that seeks to build spiritual
movements everywhere so that everyone knows someone who truly follows Jesus.
International students make up 25% of most university student
populations and are the top students of their home countries who will become
leaders & influencers. They are eager to have new experiences which include
learning about the Bible and Christianity. Australia opens its arms wide to
receive tens of thousands of these future leaders every year. While at the same
time, Australia’s strict visa laws means most students will return home after
graduation. This receive-send-back situation is a strategic mission opportunity
hiding in plain sight! While these students are in our universities, why not
give them opportunities to hear the gospel, become disciples, and be sent home
as disciples who can make disciples?
Main
Responsibilities
· Sharing
your faith with international students on campus
· Discipling
both Christians, and new believers in following Jesus & training them to
begin their own personal ministry in making disciples.
· Developing,
coaching and equipping student leaders who will be the lead and take ownership
of the campus movement.
· Regular
Team Meetings: Planning and Prayer in how to reach the campus strategically.
· Leading
bible studies or prayer times
· Attending/organising
training, conferences, mission trips and other events
· Other
activities for your team and/or state.
The
successful applicant would be a person who has a passion to engage with
International students or cross culturally, and would have been in full-time
study at university or Bible College for at least two years (a degree is
recommended). We welcome those with previous ministry experience with International
students through your local church or vocation, but it is not necessary. Chinese
speakers or those who are multi-lingual will be advantageous for ministry. We
welcome those of all ethnic backgrounds to consider the role as we minister to
a diverse cultural mix of students. Necessary training will be provided.
Power
to Change missionaries raise a financial support team to allow them to serve in
the movement. The applicant would be assigned a financial support coach who
will help them through the support raising process. This normally takes between
6 and 12 months. Power to Change is very experienced with this method of
funding mission work with over 150 people currently serving in Australia using
this model.
On
campus we were formally known as Student Life and part of Campus Crusade for
Christ Australia. We are part of the international Cru network and have around
17,000 missionaries serving in over 160 countries.
This
is a full-time campus missionary position. For more information on this
strategic mission opportunity contact Aaron Gibson via email (joinus@powertochange.org.au).
