Job Description

This job description outlines the key accountabilities of, and output required from, the post holder. It is not a definitive list and the role may well change and evolve over time to reflect changing circumstances.


Reports to: Partnership Director

Department/Team: Partnership Team

Location: Flexible

Direct Reports: Nil

Hours: 37.5 hours per week

Salary: Based on Experience

Context of the job:

The Partnership Manager is part of a national team that engages and develops purposeful relationships and profiles among church and denominational leaders or influencers of other relevant Christian groups. This job is required to strategically execute marketing campaigns that engage church/Christian audiences and invite a response to CAP’s mission, through partnership and advocacy.



To promote and market current and future services to new churches across Australia with the aim of reaching the target goals of new partner churches each year. To increase the sustainability of the charity through the growth of life changers and church partnerships. We need you to provide strategic input into CAP’s growth plans and increase our reputation and spread the vision of CAP across Australia.

In a nut shell your purpose will be, as part of an awesome team, to help CAP achieve its national vision – to champion what God has, is and will do through CAP and the local church in this nation.

This role will involve state and interstate travel and weekend work on a regular basis (all time worked outside of normal business hours are to be taken back as time off in lieu).



·       Accountabilities - General

·       Identify and create new partnerships with the Christian churches, denominations and influential church leaders in Australia.

·       Create greater public awareness of CAP services within the local church.

·       Implement strategies and campaigns that will enable CAP to garner support from the local church and Christian community, particularly for Life Changers and other fundraising efforts.

·       Ensure that key KPI’s are met or exceeded

-       Life Changer targets

-       Church partnership targets

-       Church talk targets

·       Preaching/Training

-       Regular availability to speak in churches on weekends

-       Other speaking engagements as required

-       Promote Life Changers (and other fundraising programs or appeals) in a confident and professional manner, including an invitation to respond.

-       Provide support to the Network Partnership team at key training events

·       Work collaboratively with the Partnership Director (or other key stakeholders) to plan and implement promotional opportunities in line with strategic National/State targets and objectives.

·       Implement Marketing Campaigns agreed upon by the Partnership Director, ensuring a ‘high impact’ CAP presence at church events and conferences, generating significant response in the areas of Nevertheless distribution, CAP Money Partnership and financial support.

·       Identify risks that may hinder achievement of targets and develop/implement solutions.

·       Demonstrate a willingness to work together and participate in meetings as required by the Partnership Director.

·       Keep accurate, reliable and good records of stakeholders/events in FAITH. FAITH should be updated daily.


Measurable Outputs (based on targets set within the approved strategic plan):

·       Achieve growth targets of “number of services”

·       Achieve growth targets of “Church Relationships”

·       Achieve number of Life Changers generated per month


Life Changers and Prayer responsibilities:

·       To encourage friends, family and other contacts to support the charity through the Life Changer program, and other fundraising initiatives. 

·       To lead and actively participate in prayer activities as an expression of your own personal faith and in line with CAP’s statement of faith.

·       To be willing to pray with staff and express reliance on God through large groups praying together, small groups or departments praying, or individual prayer about situations. Seeking Gods help is a vital part of the work we do.


Other responsibilities include:

·       Contribute to a team environment where employees are encouraged and empowered.

·       Foster strong and enduring employee relationships within the team.

·       Contribute to your progress and performance in regular reviews with line manager.

·       Both internally and externally represent CAP professionally and with integrity.

·       Ensure that all reasonable requests are followed up within agreed timeframes.

·       Acts consistently in accordance with CAP’s statement of faith, values, mission and vision.

·       General duties as required and flexibility to take on other responsibilities when necessary.



·       Must have flexibility to be able to attend National Conferences

·       Must be flexible to work on Sundays on a regular basis

Knowledge & Education:

·       Relevant business qualifications and/or experience that supports a business development role

·       Advanced computer skills


Experience and Proven Ability in:


·       Promotions and/or sales environment

·       Meeting deadlines and targets

·       Working using your own initiative

·       Networking and influencing


·       Sales experience with evidence of success

·       Public speaking and preaching experience

·       Experience in a National Christian not-for-profit



·       A confident communicator within a variety of settings and stakeholder groupings

·       Excellent verbal and written communication skills

·       Excellent time management skills

·       Able to hold a good balance between detail and the ‘big picture’

·       An influencer who loves inspiring people

·       Good strategic insight and understanding of organisational aims

·       Organised and driven to reach targets quickly and efficiently



The Partnership Manager will be full of passion to see the local church empowered to relieve poverty in such a way as broken people are offered the opportunity to respond to the love of God.  They will be passionate about the vision and values of CAP and also evidence a clear Christian commitment. They will be passionate about envisioning others to join with us in this amazing ministry and see them given a chance to make an eternal impact in the world we live.

Christian Commitment:

The candidate must be able to give both verbal assent to and practical demonstration of Christians Against Poverty’s Statement of Faith and Core Values.

Practical demonstration of this will be seen in the following ways (among others):

·       Giving priority to personal devotions, Bible study, prayer and involvement in a local church fellowship.

·       Active involvement in prayer/devotions, staff devotions.

·       Use of God given gifts in ongoing ministry to staff, clients and their families.

·       Demonstration of Integrity and Christian principles
