Children’s Ministry Worker     Job Description

TLC Community Church is looking for an enthusiastic person with a heart to share God’s love with children to co-ordinate and develop our ministry to children and families.

We expect the person will have some experience in areas such as Playgroup, Sunday School or Religious Education in Schools.

Mandatory Police Checks Working with Children Checks and references are required.

To be successful in this role you must meet the following criteria:

  • Be a person committed to the Christian faith
  • Have a genuine and proven call to children’s ministry
  • Be a creative thinker committed to creating a stimulating and enjoyable environment for children
  • Be a person skilled at communicating with children and adults
  • Have undertaken, or be presently undertaking, theological studies
  • Be able to provide pastoral oversight and coordination of the Pre-School to Year 6 teaching program
  • Be able to assist children to understand the call to discipleship
  • Be able to develop ways to enrich family life both within the church and in the community
  • The applicant will work with teams of volunteer leaders.
  • Recruiting, training, resourcing and supporting volunteer team members is an important part of the role
  • Capacity to enjoy working in the context of team ministry
  • Must have child safe training and a current working with children check
  • A current police check
  • A current First Aid Certificate is required
  • The successful applicant will undertake monthly ministry supervision.

This position has a 3-month probation period and is a 12-month contract for two days per week (15.2 hours).  This model can be revisited when position permanent.
