Board Members Sought

Holy Fools Inc is seeking new Board Members for our small but growing charity. We have several vacancies and are looking for individuals with a passion for serving the community, particularly for the homeless and those at risk. Our Board is currently made up of men and we are seeking to diversify that and make a positive change! Fully insured, our Board is responsible for the big picture development and growth of Holy Fools Inc.

We are seeking several individuals, with and without qualifications to come and join us for our bi-monthly meetings. As mentioned, our current sitting Board consists of men and we would love to see that change! If you fit the Selection Criteria and are passionate for Christ as well as the community we would love to hear from you!

Who are We?

Holy Fools is an independent, grassroots, not-for-profit charity focusing on the Yarra Ranges offering Hope, unconditional Love, and Grace to individuals and families experiencing disadvantage, homelessness, addiction, mental illness and isolation.

A positive catalyst for social change, Holy Fools seeks to form transformative relationships fostering positive change both in the lives of individuals, as well as the broader community.

Holy Fools Inc., ABN 94 292 230 924, is endorsed by the ATO as an Income Tax Exempt Charity with Deductible Gift Recipient (DGR) status.

We operate in 4 areas;

Advocacy - Utilising a variety of mediums such as social media, traditional media, and the power of community, we speak for individuals, groups and the greater community.

Education - From speaking in Schools, Churches, Community Groups such as Lions and Rotary, we try to educate the public on issues such as social justice, poverty, homelessness, domestic violence and drug and alcohol issues. Through social media and other mediums, we combat ignorance and educate the greater community about the same issues.

Research - We conduct research into social issues to ensure our work is effective; and to help develop strategies and activities to meet identified gaps, and to keep our data up to date. Run in partnership with other organisations such as Anchor, we compile and share the research to help better understand the issues.

Outreach -  Also know as Street Angels; we head out onto the streets seeking those out who are homeless and in need of help. Includes weekly circuits of known rough sleeping locations. We also operate two outreach lunches - one in Lilydale and the other in Yarra Junction - every Wednesday and Thursday.  These serve as a catalyst to attract people and build relationships.

Selection Criteria

There are a number of positions available, including General Board Membership. However, we are seeking people who are passionate and can help develop and grow the organisation towards the future. Our one criteria is a committed and active faith. We would prefer folk who live in the Yarra Ranges or close-by, but being able to attend meetings is needed. To that end, we are looking for;

Accountancy - Prefer someone with Accountancy or Book Keeping qualifications who can manage the overall book-keeping thorough our online accountancy system - Xero.

Advertising/Marketing - Someone to help steer some of the promotions and brand.

Fund-raising - This one is desperate! If you can fill out Grant applications and organise fund-raisers such as dinners etc, we need you!

Legal - You will have a law degree, preferably in community/business and contract law.

General - If you have business acumen or management skills, or have risk management skills, or even admin or volunteer management experience, we would love to hear from you!
