Habitat for Humanity, Victoria 

Role: Communication Coordinator

Reports to: Phil Wright, Business Development Manager (BDM)

Hours: Part time/0.4 FTE (15 hours per week)


Role Summary:

This part time role has been newly created to improve the understanding and support of the work of HFH Victoria in the community and within its existing supporter base.

Job Requirements:


Key Responsibilities:


1.    Communicatiion strategy


a.    Develop the Communication Goals and Strategy, tactics and tools to grow community engagement with the work of HFHV


2.    Information co-ordination


a.    Ensure collection and development of content for use in HFHV communication materials (e.g. photos, interviews with Partner families and volunteers).

b.    Coordinate the timely delivery of Post Volunteer Day Reports (PVDR) and Post House Handover Report (PHHR) material as required


3.    Stakeholder engagement:


a.    Work with internal stakeholders to deliver effective communications to key supporter groups 

·       Corporate Partners/supporters

·       Donors – including Build Partners and Executive Director’s Circle

b.    Engage with and the social media programs at major corporate partners to effectively build the HFHV Brand and support partners Brand.

·       Volunteers

·       ReStore customers and donors


4.    Digital media -website, social media


a.    Develop, Coordinate and deliver social media program and content for HFHV

b.    Maintainence of HFHV website – including development of pages for HFHV Chapters as agreed


5.    Publications


a.    Actively contribute to the decisionmaking about publications we produce.

b.    Advice and assist on the preparation and circulation of ReStore updates as required in consultation with the ReStore Manager

c.     Work with HFHV Executive Director and BDM to develop and implement the Quarterly update – “Foundations


6.    Promotions


a.    Promotion of major HFHV and ReStore events including special Home building events (eg, a Blitz Build), House handovers, fundraising events and ReStore sales

b.    Develop and implementation of an effective promotions strategy.


7.    Liaison – external consultants


a.    Liaise with external consultants as required to help implement key activities and communications strategies on behalf on HFHV.


Goals:


a.    Develop Communications and Promotion stragies

b.    Grow HFHV and ReStore online profile – quantify current status and agree goal metric. “Drive traffic”

c.     Improve “content” and consistency of messaging delivered across all platforms

d.    Improve HFHV “Communications” culture and engage with all team members in the process


Key Competencies:


1.    Background or/and study(desirable) of contemporary Communications methods and platforms

2.    Tertiary qualification in Professional writing, journalism, communications and media or similar (highly desirable) 

3.    Well-developed, proactive and dynamic written and verbal communication skills and style appropriate to the medium in use (examples of work required)

4.    Experience with the NFP sector (desirable) and support of HFHV values 

5.    Able to work independently and willing to take initiative.

6.    Able to sensitively, and effectively deal with the vulnerable people we work with.
