Human Resources Officer



The mission of Lighthouse Christian College is ‘to assist Christian parents to teach and train their children in a Christian teaching and learning environment, so they will fulfil God’s plan for their lives, and bring this positive influence on our society’. Founded in 1989, the College has earned a reputation of being ‘the Christian’ choice for excellence in education. 



The HR Officer is a part time permanent role (.6 EFT) based at Lighthouse Christian College Campus in Keysborough.


Reporting directly to the Principal, the HR Officer plays a key role in building and developing the HR function within the College. As a HR Generalist you will partner and collaborate with our Executive team to develop HR strategy, drive employee engagement, compliance and end-to-end recruitment. Also, you will be involved in the development of a quality and compliant HR framework in alignment with Lighthouse Christian College’s mission and values.


Duties include: end-to-end recruitment and onboarding processes, work with Executive team to develop best recruitment strategies, supporting management with performance related matters, coaching of staff on employee issues, workplace change and professional development, staff engagement and wellbeing initiatives, strategic HR planning, HR metrics and implementation of policies and procedures.



We are seeking a self-motivated person with an attention to detail and a flexible, can-do attitude. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with at least 3-4 years’ generalist experience looking to expand their HR skills and make this position their own. The ideal applicant will have experience within a Christian organisation or Educational sector.  Due to the distinctive nature of Lighthouse Christian College and the requirement to support and represent the organisation in such a manner through the HR role, the successful applicant would need to be a practicing Christian as well as possess:


  • HR Degree or Advanced Diploma qualified (essential)
  • a solid understanding of the Fair Work Act 2009, award interpretation, and relevant compliance requirements
  • experience in disciplinary and performance management
  • proven ability to step up and take initiative
  • excellent time management and organisational skills
  • advanced computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office excel, word, and social media platforms
  • highly developed communication and interpersonal skills
  • current WWCC and valid Police Check (mandatory)
