Horizon Church (formerly Shirelive Church) is seeking a Bookkeeper / Accounts Department Admin specialist. The focus of the role is to support our Finance Manager with bookkeeping and accounts based administration. 

We are a dynamic and growing Pentecostal church in Southern Sydney with a warm and relational staff culture. Our Finance Manager is highly skilled, has longevity in the organisation and is well loved by staff. We believe the person employed to work with him will enjoy this great opportunity! 


The role is currently 2 days per week. There is, however, the possibility that with the right person the role will be increased towards full time in the future. 


In addition to the skills and experience listed, we desire to employ a reliable and diligent person with great initiative, an aptitude to learn and a desire to contribute meaningfully in the not-for-profit environment. 


This role would suit a suitably qualified person seeking to grow and develop. 


You will be responsible for:

·       Utilising Reckon Accounts Hosted software

·       Accounts payable (including data entry from invoices)

·       Accounts receivable (including generating recurring & ad hoc invoices)

·       Entry of bank deposits from multiple source data

·       Weekly banking of cash / cheques

·       Weekly allocation of direct deposit funds received

·       Downloading and collating data from various online sources

·       Monthly bank reconciliations for multiple accounts and entities

·       Monthly journals for intercompany transactions

·       Monthly intercompany loan account reconciliations

·       Monthly entry of multiple credit card statements

·       Update and create various spreadsheets

·       Entry of financial data into Elvanto database

·       Filing and other administrative tasks to assist Finance Manager

Key Skills, Experience and Qualifications:

·       Proficient user with experience in Reckon Accounts Hosted (or MYOB / Quickbooks)

·       Moderate to advanced skill level with Microsoft Office (in particular Excel)

·       Effective communication and interpersonal skills

·       Willingness to take direction and work as part of a team

·       Relevant recent local experience in a similar role

·       Accounting/bookkeeping qualifications preferred (negotiable)

·       Experience in not for profit sector desirable but not essential
