ACCI Relief, is currently seeking a full-time staff person to fill the position of Project Officer.

ACC International Relief is the Aid and Development arm of the Australian Christian Churches Movement, member of ACFID and a signatory to the ACFID Code of Conduct.  Our mission is to transform communities and nations, One Life at a Time, by developing holistic sustainable solutions to combat injustice, poverty and reinstate the value of life. We aim to promote equal access to the rights and services that protect life and human dignity.

Essential skills and experience:

  • Tertiary qualification/s in relevant and related disciplines (or be in the process of completing their qualifications)
  • Previous experience in the not for profit or international development sector
  • Good grasp of the Australian faith-based sector
  • Ability to work in a team and independently

Applicants should be able to demonstrate strong intercultural communication skills and a sound understanding of how cultural diversity impacts development practices.

You would be required to use the above skills and knowledge in supporting and building the capacity of partners who work in varying contexts and projects ranging from grassroots community development to more structured technical programs.  This would also include assisting partners in finding creative solutions to the challenges they face in implementation, and meeting project compliance requirements.

You would also be involved in organisational improvements, shared learning with colleagues and compliance related to our ACFID membership. You would also be required to travel overseas to carry out monitoring, evaluation and training between 2 and 4 times per year.

As a faith based organisation, an understanding of churches is essential, as our donor base is made up predominantly of churches and Christian organisations.   Your ability to engage in donor and stakeholder education on development issues would be an advantage in this role.

If you are a self-accountable, solutions-focused individual, looking for a long-term role in a small but growing organisation, and you believe you have the necessary skills and experience then we would love to have a conversation with you.
