Bob Andringa has consulted with nonprofit boards and chief executives since 1985. Through The Andringa Group, now four experienced partners, Bob’s specialty for more than 30 years has been nonprofit board governance. He has consulted with or trained CEOs and boards of more than 500 nonprofit organizations, primarily faith-based.
Bob received three degrees from Michigan State University, including a Ph.D. in higher education. From 1965‑67, Bob was Assistant Director of the MSU Honors College.
Following MSU, Bob fulfilled his Army ROTC commission as a faculty member of the Industrial College of the Armed Forces in Washington, D.C., leaving as a Captain.
Albert H. Quie, then a congressman from Minnesota, appointed Bob to the staff of the Committee on Education and Labor, U. S. House of Representatives, where he served seven years as Staff Director and became a recognized national leader in higher education policy development. Later, he managed a successful gubernatorial race for Mr. Quie and served as the Minnesota Governor’s Director of Policy.
In 1980, the Education Commission of the States called Bob to become its third CEO. For five years Bob served the nation's governors, legislators, and other State education leaders on policy issues.
Later he consulted full-time until moving back to Washington from 1994 to 2006 to serve as president of the Council for Christian Colleges & Universities, an association of more than 175 liberal arts colleges and universities in 24 countries.
Bob has received four honorary doctorates, co-authored five books, has served on numerous boards and national advisory groups, and continues to consult selectively in his ‘re-firement’ years.
Bob and his wife, Sue, live in Scottsdale, AZ. They have two grown sons and three grandchildren. |
