He has a Bachelor of Education, and a Master of Business (Philanthropy and Nonprofit Studies) from QUT in Brisbane. He lives on Tamborine Mountain with his wife Debbie, and son Landon (18). His daughter Abby (20) is on the Logos Hope for two years. He attends his local Presbyterian church.

Most recently, Ray has been Development Manager at Evangelical Alliance, where he got to understand and appreciate the ministry of CMA, and in 2009 he moved across to take his current position at CMA.
